Our Boy Scout troop is the longest-running youth program at First Presbyterian Church, maintaining a continuous charter for more than 58 years. (Click here for a list of our Eagle Scouts.)
The values and skills that we teach in Scouting are ones that a Scout will carry throughout the rest of his life. Life skills, organizational skills, community involvement, self-reliance, leadership skills, caring for and protecting the environment and our natural resources, and trusting in God are taught to the boys that come through Troop 205.
With the values the Scouting organization teaches our youth, there is no doubt that the long-term benefit this organization offers continues to affect our growing generations of young boys as they mature into young men that we can all be proud of.
Activities that the Scouts have enjoyed during the past year are: multiple camping trips, a canoe trip, a ski trip, BBQ Festival fund raising, working on Merit Badges, and assisting with Eagle Scout projects.
Troop 205 has participated in community service projects by volunteering at organizations in our area such as the Homeless Shelter, Pastorís Pantry, Lexington Medical Center Foundation, the NC Transportation Museum and, of course, First Presbyterian Church.

David Welborn and Taylor Hood, members of First Presbyterian Church, are our two long-time Boy Scout Leaders. Other Scout Leaders include: Sims Riggan, Rob Greer, and Andy Perryman.
We are grateful to each of them for their time and dedication both to this program and to the young men who participate in it.
Troop 205 meets each Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the basement of First Presbyterian Church, throughout the school year. First Presbyterian is located at the corner of South Main Street and West Third Avenue in Lexington, NC. The basement can be accessed at the rear of the building through the exterior stairs that lead down to the basement area.
Boy Scouting is available to boys age 10.5 years old (sixth grade) to 18 years old. The program achieves the Boy Scouts of America's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness.
